Discount only what you need to
We’ve rebuilt Stora’s Discount system from the ground up to give operators more control, clarity, and flexibility — solving long-standing issues and future-proofing for what’s next.
Why we made this change
Until now, discounts applied at the subscription level, which meant everything — units, insurance, and recurring products — was reduced together.
We’ve introduced a new approach that puts you in control. You decide exactly what gets discounted, and everything is clearer, simpler, and easier to manage.
What’s new
1. Discounts apply per line item
You can now choose what gets discounted:
- Units
- Insurance
- Recurring products
By default, discounts now apply only to storage, but you can turn them on for insurance or products by editing a discount in Stora. Simply select a discount and press edit and you’ll see the new applies to options for existing discounts.
Please note: It’s not possible to edit old fixed amount discounts in this way, only newly set up ones.
2. Clearer visibility
Active discounts now show directly in your subscription view, at both the subscription and line-item level — so you always know what’s being discounted and where.
3. Backwards-compatible and synced
All your existing coupons continue to work. Any changes you make in Stripe will now sync reliably to Stora. If you were using Stripe’s old “applies_to” workaround, we’ve migrated those automatically.
TL;DR
Discounts in Stora are now:
- Applied per line item, not globally.
- Storage-only by default, with full control to include insurance or products.
- Easier to manage, clearer to understand.
